Yet academic achievement for too many children remains frustratingly low. This is particularly true in Pakistan. To change that, drawing on two decades of experience working directly with teachers in rural and peri-urban communities in Pakistan, Developments in Literacy (DIL) has designed Technology-Enabled Academic Learning (TEAL). By creating localized bite-size video lessons bundled with detailed lesson plans and assessments, TEAL makes standards-based content accessible to teachers and students. Committed to providing TEAL videos to as many students as possible, DIL has made the digital library available to users free of charge through the DIL Pakistan website. The full classroom intervention will be rolled out as TEAL expands from grade 6 to grades 7 and 8 and at six government schools in the autumn of 2021. This article explores how TEAL works in the classroom, how TEAL sets teachers up for success, and some of the results achieved by the program's implementation.
