Computer Oriented Programs Computers Information Retrieval Library Automation Minicomputers Special Libraries Time Sharing The experience with various computer implementations at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory is described and it is concluded that resource-shared facilities, such as ADP service centers and general-purpose time-sharing systems, are adequate for off-line, batch-mode library housekeeping and for current awareness services, but are not well suited to on-line, interactive housekeeping or to retrospective information retrieval.
