Was that just a fad for pandemic times, or do they retain value in post-pandemic K-12 education? In a recent survey of 72 educators that included 45 school librarians, 71%, mostly at the elementary level, reported that they still use them. The purposes varied from online reading rooms to virtual book clubs to maintaining a school library presence in case of inclement weather. Bitmoji virtual libraries are an effective way to: (1) develop and satisfy personal interests; (2) design culturally responsive classrooms; (3) curate a collection of materials for learning needs; and (4) satisfy curiosity for new learning that is connected to prior learning. This article presents how Bitmoji classrooms meet the professional standards of twenty-first century school librarians.
