The program, "Community Justice," uses a public syllabus to introduce local teens to social justice concepts, theories, and methods. While issues of sustainability and retention are examined in this essay, much of the analysis centers on the community-engaged work of collaboration, reflection, and redesign. Additionally, this essay offers the field both an analysis of and a heuristic for teaching an under-explored community literacy utilized by activists: organizer toolkits.
