This article is to present the design and development of educational software as a teaching strategy that supports the mathematical training process in students new to higher education. Its purpose is to diagnose, evaluate and identify any shortcomings in topics that are fundamental to the university cycle and to provide multimedia and didactic resources to help solve those difficulties. The methodological approach included three stages: first, the design and development of the software using the SCRUM methodology under the client-server architecture; second, question-generation patterns were created, and the exam and library modules were implemented from a constructivist pedagogical perspective; and third, the validation and evaluation of the software. The software was deployed among 218 first-semester students and five teachers. Results indicate a positive reception: students recognized their level of mathematical preparation, identified common errors, and acknowledged the topics requiring reinforcement. Ninety-nine percent consider that it helps to recognize difficulties in their mathematical foundation. This software is expected to serve as a strategy to help incoming university students to self-evaluate and improve their performance and thus reduce dropout rates.
