contents Working Connections: Suzan Lee--UBS Securities LLC, New York Librarians Special Libraries Internship Programs Career Guidance Recognition (Achievement) This article is about Suzan Lee of UBS Securities LLC in New York, a person who is dedicated to connecting aspiring professionals to opportunities in the world of special libraries. In 1999, Lee realized that most library students had only one resource for internships--their library schools--and that these offerings focused largely on public and academic libraries. As a senior research librarian at UBS Securities LLC in New York City, Lee was excited about the opportunities in special libraries and wanted to expose students to work in business, legal, medical, and other special libraries. As outreach chair of the Special Libraries Association New York Chapter, Lee established an internship program that now places over 30 students annually in special libraries. Student demand drives the program, with placements ranging from museums to law firms, businesses to medical facilities. The program is so popular, and so unique, that Lee gets calls from students across the country and even worldwide.
