contents ACRL Draws Record Crowd to Minneapolis Albanese, Andrew Miller, Rebecca Oder, Norman Research Libraries Academic Libraries Conferences Public Libraries Electronic Libraries Library Automation Internet Information Literacy This brief article reports on the 12th national Association of College and Research Libraries' (ACRL) conference held April 7-10, 2004 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. William Mitchell, head of the media arts and sciences program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an architecture professor provided the conference attendees with the opening address. Hooking first-year students--many of them Millennials--was the buzz in poster sessions and programs. Google product manager Adam Smith and University of Michigan (UM) associate university librarian, John Price Wilkin, discussed Google Print's ambitious effort to digitize millions of books from four university libraries and the New York Public Library. One open access discussion examined the National Institutes of Health's (NIH) new access policy, while another session looked at a putative open access world.
