These two goals are largely the business of schools. Reading to learn requires comprehension. It also requires the ability to organize written material for the purpose of remembering it. This organizational ability also is useful when writing reports. These issues are addressed in this article through a study of informational books. Presenting these books and analyzing them with students will help learners see how authors provide a variety of methods for readers to retain information. Further study gives students examples of how they can use a variety of ways to organize and present information in order to write interesting reports.
