contents Meeteth Thy Match: Sensory Activities to Support Brain-Based Learning Brown, Nancy Learning Activities; Class Activities; Brain Media Specialists Multiple Intelligences Multisensory Learning Teaching Methods Cognitive Style A great deal of research has been done on the different ways students learn. Over twenty years ago, Gardner (1983) introduced the theory of multiple intelligences. According to Gardner, each individual possesses at least eight different intelligences, each with varied abilities. The eight intelligences are identified as linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, intrapersonal, interpersonal, and naturalist. This article discusses ways in which elementary school media specialists can promote activities fostering four of these intelligences: linguistic, spatial, musical, and bodily-kinesthetic. Suggestions for related classroom activities are also included.
