  • Thematic Journeys. Young Investigators Zingher, Gary Childrens Literature Inquiry Class Activities School Libraries Some children delight in pursuing information about a particular subject. They are excited about facts and theories, and want to know about the "how" as well as the "what" and the "who." They love the challenge of making connections and seeing the ways the pieces of any puzzle or mystery are linked together. On research projects, these young investigators are apt to use varied sources of information--information acquired from interviews, observations, letters, oral histories, and visits to museums and zoos. In their leisure time, they may enjoy reading biographies about naturalists, inventors, and explorers. This article describes several children's books and series that illustrate this quest for information and what it entails.
