These strategies are in conjunction with free reading as well as direct reading instruction by reading specialists and/or teachers. An explanation of "Before Reading Strategies," "During Reading Strategies," and "After Reading Strategies" is given, and examples of the ways in which library media specialists can use or model these strategies are provided. Specific steps that the school library media specialist can take to integrate reading strategies into the library program are also suggested.
