Internet Librarians Technological Advancement Information Technology Educational Trends Computer Uses in Education Web Based Instruction School Libraries Teacher-librarians around the world face threats to their very existence because of the advance of technology in today's schools. It can be argued that the ubiquitous use of the Internet in schools and homes, the development of school Intranet, and the increase in use of instructional Web sites in schools will make teachers and students retreat from the school library and into their classrooms, as a result, teachers will see themselves as being responsible for student information literacy, further undermining the role of the teacher-librarian, such a doomsday scenario could cause school managers to take the view that the school library is an unaffordable luxury, while this threat may not be immediate, it is one the teacher-librarian should face and devise ways to counter. In this article, the author discusses how teacher-librarians may counter these threats.
