The author offers some perspective on what is involved in trying to accomplish important work with limited resources while recognizing the full impact of taking on a project upfront. Here, he presents a complete picture of the direct and indirect costs of a tech project. He also considers the total cost of ownership model of adopting a new technology. With this broad and long-term cost model in mind, the cost components of a typical library technology project can be laid out.
