Bell, Lori Peters, Tom Electronic Libraries Information Technology Web Sites Internet Library Automation Online Searching In little more than a decade, Web sites have become integral to many digital library collections and services. Even if a Web site is not the destination point for an information resource, library users often interact with Web sites in the process of searching for and discovering online collections and services. If a user is looking to find and check out an e-journal article, e-book, or downloadable digital audiobook, she probably will visit at least one Web site along the way. Even when you click on the Help link in many desktop software applications, you will be taken to an online help Web site. Any digital information system is only as accessible as its least accessible link. Unfortunately, often the weakest link is a Web site that users encounter along the way. In this article, the authors discuss several simple steps that can produce immediate results in making a library Web site more accessible to all which need not be an arduous, expensive process.
