Grant writing is not as difficult as many people believe. Although there are courses on grant writing, very few people start their career with the goal of "becoming a grant writer." In this article, the author presents 10 tips to help the beginning grant writer, and these are: (1) Assess your chances for success; (2) Get to know your funder; (3) Set up a proposal library; (4) Follow the directions exactly and pay attention to details; (5) Emphasize experience and qualifications; (6) Seek support from local and state politicians; (7) Use current statistics and data; (8) Collaborate and cooperate; (9) Proofread and calculate; and (10) Learn from rejection. |
