contents Media Manners Matter! Riggs, Felice School Libraries Librarians Classroom Techniques Student Behavior Elementary Education Classrooms are places for learning. The library media center, which is the library media specialist's classroom, should also be a major place for learning. The author, as a classroom teacher for 20 years, knows that for learning to take place, consistency is crucial. Realistic rules and enforcement of these rules helps with this consistency. Because all teachers' rules and expectations are not the same, they need to create, teach, and enforce their own library media center rules and creativity in making those rules is important because of the different ages of their students. Furthermore, the author presents and discusses how a library media specialist can encourage responsible behavior in the library media center by establishing a Media Manners Matter system.
