- Let Book Joy Begin @ Your Library[R]!: Ten Years of El Dia de los Ninos/El Dia de los Libros Roy, Loriene Foreign Countries Childrens Literature Graduate Study Libraries Library Services Reading Family Involvement Reading Motivation Children Young Children Ten years ago, in 1996, poet and children's book author, Pat Mora began celebrating "book joy" by founding a children's book and reading day, El Dia de los Ninos/El Dia de los Libros or Children's Day/Book Day. Dia is modeled on National Children's Day Celebrations in Mexico held since 1925 when it was launched in conjunction with a World Conference for the Well-Being of Children. Mora wove in the reading connection in establishing Un Dia, one day, to assist families in building the habit of daily reading and love for books among children. This article presents some sources to explore the possibilities of Dia and take the first step in planning one's own event.
