contents ReadyGo Delivers an Online Tutorial Mirsky, Steve Government Libraries Internet Computer Assisted Instruction Programmed Tutoring Computer Software Material Development Working as a legislative reference librarian at the Connecticut State Library exposes the author to many complex topics. Law, by nature, is a multidisciplinary field involving social issues and legal ramifications. Each year when the legislature is in session (January-June during even years, February-May during odd years), the Legislative Bill Room in their library answers questions regarding the status of bills that have been introduced. They also track bills for nonprofit agencies and archive bill file material and legislative proceedings for permanent public access. Helping them carry out these tasks for the duration of each session is a legislative aide whose position is funded by the Connecticut General Assembly. Up until this year, their training material for this aide had consisted of a static 13-lesson tutorial in Microsoft Word and an HTML outline covering the major points of Connecticut's legislative process posted on the state library Web site. In this article, the author shares how he developed a tutorial for the aide to get up-to-speed more quickly than previous years. His challenge was determining how he could quickly hand over e-course creation to someone who was a total neophyte on the subject area in particular and on Web course development in general.
