They also reported extremely severe shortages of school librarians in ten states and severe shortages in 30 states plus the District of Columbia. In this article, the authors discuss why it is difficult to attract candidates to school librarianship. The authors also discuss the efforts made by various library schools in overcoming recruitment difficulties. Lastly, the authors present simple strategies on how school librarians can help in promoting careers in school librarianship. |
