At first thought, one might dismiss it as the chant of an overly optimistic cheerleader. As one really begins to think about it, though, this seemingly simplistic message is one everyone should strive for daily. But how does one get better? It does not simply happen by sitting isolated in the school library media centers. The opportunities and resources for school library media specialists are many and varied, but each opportunity requires them to be proactive and take advantage of any opportunities to improve. As professionals, they should never settle for the status quo. Instead, they should be looking constantly for resources and opportunities to increase knowledge and improve practices. In this article, the author suggests ways for school library media specialists to improve their practices and get better.
