Many of the resulting projects and activities have content material that can be used directly or as a model for others. This demonstration project has also fostered additional Institute of Museum and Library Services funding for scholarships and new continuing education initiatives. The Institute for Library and Information Literacy Education (ILILE) is federally funded through the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the U. S. Department of Education. As a result of this funding, ILILE was established to provide local, regional, and national leadership in fostering successful collaboration among K-12 teachers and library media specialists who are concerned with advancing library and information literacy in the PK-12 school curriculum. The primary objective of the institute is a demonstration project of local, statewide, and national significance. The development of this project will be accomplished through the creation of a variety of endeavors that will provide leadership in the research and teaching necessary for the integration of information literacy in classroom and library media centers. |
