| contents | TEAMS Award Winners Honored at AASL in Reno, Nevada Simpson, Carol Awards Librarian Teacher Cooperation Academic Achievement Elementary Schools Middle Schools High Schools Writing (Composition) Mathematics Poetry At the American Association of School Librarians (AASL) conference in Reno, Linworth Publishing and Thomson/Gale announced the winners of the third annual TEAMS awards. TEAMS stands for TEachers And Media Specialists influencing student achievement. The award recognizes the critical collaboration between teachers and media specialists in promoting learning and increasing student achievement. Winners at the elementary, middle, and high school levels displayed an amazing range of creative projects. Entries were judged on: (1) Demonstrated collaboration between teachers and media specialists during the 2006-2007 school year; (2) Effective techniques that positively impacted student learning and achievement; (3) Support from school leadership; and (4) Ability for others to replicate the best practice. Each award consisted of $2500 cash, a one-year subscription to Library Media Connection, a Linworth Educator's Professional Bookshelf, and Thomson Gale products valued at $500. This article describes projects at the winning schools: (1) Big Shanty Elementary School, Kennesaw, GA; (2) Dover Air Base Middle School, Dover, DE; and (3) Booker T. Washington Senior High School, Miami, FL. |
