Appeal addresses the elements of books that readers respond to, the features that "draw a reader into a book" and help shape a particular reading experience. Recently, the concept of appeal has been changed and adapted by those who helped create it and by a new group of librarians eager to develop new thinking about how patrons react to, and interact with, what they read. This article explores how readers' advisors rethink appeal and the terms associated with it.
