Reports indicate that this generation is again poised to create a social change. As such, they have needs for information, expert advice, and planning. However, the question is whether or not they are using libraries as a resource for this type of information. The Americans for Libraries Council (ALC) is training 20 "Lifelong Access Fellows" to develop and inspire more outreach to boomers. ALC says the fellows "will lead the nation's libraries in enhancing services for older adults with opportunities for active learning, creative exploration, and meaningful civic engagement." This article describes methods that all librarians can use to reach out to baby boomers and help them effect the change they aim for in their lives. |
