The Meeting currently is organized by VNU Exhibitions Europe (formerly Imark Communication), though for old-timers it will forever be associated with Learned Information, the Oxford-based company that first launched it back in 1976 (and which is now a part of VNU). The key themes explored in this year's Meeting were: (1) Innovation in information discovery; (2) Library and publishing developments; (3) Wikis, blogs and RSS; (4) Emerging issues for the information professional; (5) Information futures and technology; (6) Making the right connections; and (7) Managing enterprise content. The strength of the Online Information Meeting is its combination of a conference with a large product exhibition. As attendees have come to expect, the exhibition associated with the conference attracted a large number of companies: over 250 from around the world presented their products in the Olympia display area. Over the three days it was anticipated by the organizers that more than 11,000 information professionals would attend this exhibition. Free seminars also were presented on a regular basis in the exhibition area by experts from around the globe. |
