The attendees at BEA had not minded that the air was recycled, the lighting was fluorescent, and the food was bad. The first hot book sighting came courtesy of Anne Rice. Michelle Moran, author of newly published novel, "The Heretic Queen," had to shoo folks away as her signing ended. BEA attendees scooped up all 400 copies of "To Siberia" by Norwegian novelist Per Petterson, author of the award-winning novel "Out Stealing Horses." Stan Nichols' 250 copies of his best-selling trilogy, "Orcs," were gone by noon on the first show day, and a rush order went out for another 250, which disappeared as well.
