contents (Generation 1.5) Latino Students and the Library: A Case Study Haras, Catherine Lopez, Edward M. Ferry, Kristine Hispanic American Students College Freshmen Student Attitudes Information Literacy Libraries Use Studies Case Studies Research Skills Elementary Secondary Education Focus Groups Student Surveys This study investigated pre-college (K-12) and present day library use and perceptions of research for 105 U.S.-educated first-year Latino undergraduates (generation 1.5). Data were collected through focus groups and an electronic survey. Results suggest K-12 library use and information literacy development are correlated. Research skills were underdeveloped for the sample as a whole, and correlated with students' low levels of K-12 library use. (Contains 5 tables and 1 figure.)
