They are meant to get library media specialists to think differently about how they interact with classroom teachers, develop their curriculum, and provide instruction. Yet, the mission of the standards remains the same--to have staff and students become better users of information. This article features the "Standards for the 21st-Century Learner." The author discusses how to implement this new standard to help students become better critical thinkers and learners.
