  • Be the Web "Go-To" Person for Parents! Hauser, Judy Web Sites Electronic Publishing Educational Technology Media Specialists Social Networks School Libraries Technological Literacy Influence of Technology Technology Education Students are using Web 2.0 tools in school to meet technology and curriculum standards and many parents want to know more about those tools. How can the library media specialist be the "go-to" person for those parents who have Web 2.0 questions? It is important to keep up with Web tools but also important to know the limits. New Web tools are introduced daily but it is not necessary to know them all. For the past few years tools that have overwhelmingly found their audiences include: blogs, wikis, podcasts, RSS (really simple syndication), and social network sites. Library media specialists should learn to use these tools so that they are comfortable answering questions or demonstrating them to parent groups. The author provides ideas that library media specialists may want to consider for future implementation. (Contains 8 online resources.)
