At Queensborough Community College the student population is a mix of traditional and non-traditional students from diversified backgrounds. The initial contact with the Library, and its resources, may be overwhelming for students based on language barriers, lack of familiarity with information technology, and lack of library research skills. A Library Tour can be the students' introduction to information literacy. Library tours can plant the seed for life-long learning by providing students with a basic orientation which supports them in their transition to college integration and foster academic success.
