To remedy this, familiarize them with the LRC building, and provide hands-on experience with some of the materials we have, I presented a two-hour staff development workshop on "The LRC-Making It Work for You" in Fall 1999. The process by which we integrated a PowerPoint presentation, a display of paper resources (books, periodicals, indexes), self-testing, lecture, demonstration, and hands-on learning in a manner designed to hold the faculty members' interest resulted in such a positive response that I've conducted the workshop regularly ever since. |
