As they outline their model, the authors first illustrate specific ways in which librarians and technology administrators can work together to ensure convenient, easy access to library resources (the systems approach); they then provide examples of how librarians and faculty members can collaborate to provide students with materials that support distinctive learning goals on the level of the individual course (the course approach). By providing examples of good practice from different universities, Shank and Bell show how a structured partnership among library staff, technology staff, and faculty members can maximize the effective use of library resources regardless of institution size.
