With this position paper, AASL clearly places a greater value than it has in the past on the instructional partnership role of the school librarian. In fact, at the December 2006 Vision Summit, representatives from AASL Affiliates from every region of the country placed the instructional partnership role as the highest priority for ensuring the future of the profession. This article focuses on the expanded role of school librarians recommended in the Reading4Life @ your library[R] position statement.
