| contents | Liaison Efforts at a Small Business College Hales, Karen Ward, Randall Brown, Annalaura Business Administration Education Small Colleges Two Year Colleges Outreach Programs College Faculty College Libraries At our small business college, we believe that next to serving the students, the most important thing we as librarians can do is serve as liaisons to the faculty. If the faculty is tuned in to the library, it is more likely he or she will use library resources and will teach students about them. This will provide a more effective education for the students as they use the information resources at the college. It can broaden their education and also prepare them for the workforce, where information is vital in analysis and decision making. The faculty are key in this outreach process. A concerted and formal effort to win the "hearts and minds" of the faculty makes the library more relevant and useful for them, and ultimately, for the student. |
