contents The Story of the Story: Research Support for the School Librarian's Role in Teaching Writing Haven, Kendall Reading Comprehension Story Grammar School Libraries Librarians Library Role Writing Instruction Writing Skills Educational Research Story Telling Teaching Methods Elementary Schools Story structure is how humans think. If school librarians help students master the elements that define this story structure, then students can be assisted in efficiently and effectively mastering both reading comprehension and all forms of writing. A personal example of how story structure improves writing success is also presented. The author describes the role of school librarians in teaching writing by presenting and reviewing the essential elements of effective story structure.
