  • Technology: Graduate Student 2.0--Distance Education Breakstone, Elizabeth Graduate Students Distance Education Electronic Libraries Public Service Library Services Student Experience Users (Information) User Satisfaction (Information) Use Studies Academic Libraries Technology Uses in Education This column is typically devoted to discussion of the different ways in which public service librarians use technology. But for this, the special graduate student issue and her inaugural issue as the technology columnist, Breakstone is flipping things around. Public service librarians can best help their graduate student patrons by understanding how they are engaged in the educational process. It just so happens that this year Breakstone re-entered the world of graduate studies, signing up for an advanced certificate in digital libraries. While staying in her position as a librarian at University of Oregon, she began the distance education program. In doing so, she joined almost half a million students engaged in graduate and professional coursework online. For this special issue, Breakstone focuses on her experiences as a distance education student and her thoughts interaction with the library. (Contains 1 note.)
