  • Quantitative Analysis of Commercial Online Resources Subscribed to by Twenty-Three Academic Libraries Orr, Sandy Head, Jennifer Nance, Jim Academic Libraries Classification Internet Library Services Librarians Higher Education Books Collection development for commercial online resources can be difficult without established standards, such as those librarians have for books. Using the Carnegie Classification System can be a good tool for generating a list of comparable universities to discover what they subscribe to. Librarians at the Paul Meek Library at the University of Tennessee at Martin used this system to generate a list and then conducted a study to discover which commercial online resources universities had in their electronic database collections. We reduced the list to the top 40% and compared our library to the list. (Contains 2 tables.)
