EP is a low-cost technology solution providing online events calendars, RSS feeds, database support, and other web services to connect libraries to their users. It was created in 2006 by Glenn Peterson, who also designs the feature-rich websites for Minnesota's Hennepin County Library. Though EP also provides an RSS feed of each calendar, Jasper County Public Library did not have a use for it at the time. Nor did the library have a notion of how its patrons might use it on their own. Looking for a way to streamline her time, in the summer of 2009 the author had a brainstorm to use Yahoo! Pipes with the library's EP feeds to create a dynamic list of its current events and embed them in the site in place of hand-pasted events. This article describes how the author used Yahoo! Pipes with the library's main EP calendar of events.
