They must communicate and collaborate with general education teachers and special education professionals to provide targeted curricular, instructional supports as well as appropriate resources and technology. This article reports a research study that examined how well-prepared school librarians believe they are to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Specifically, it explored if and how school librarians in one school system in central North Carolina: (1) receive information about best practice in special education; (2) gather information about the specific needs of the students with disabilities in their school; (3) meet students' varying educational needs; and (4) provide information and services for parents/guardians of students with disabilities. Driving this study was the recognition that school librarians have a responsibility to ensure that students with disabilities are educated appropriately.
