Even though they can't speak, one can still observe that they are skilled at discovery. Science fair projects can nurture this natural curiosity and give elementary students the opportunity to explore their interests in a rewarding way. Participation in a science fair stimulates student interest in science while promoting the development of problem solving and decision making skills. Science fair projects help students understand how scientists work and foster closer working relationships among students, teachers, and school librarians. The basis for a successful science project is an unanswered science question. The Web site "Skytopia" provides students with a good starting point as they visually explore "The World's Most Unanswered Science Questions." "Skytopia" can be the motivation students need to think like scientists and explore unanswered questions on their own. As they seek to answer these "unanswered questions" they may be stimulated to read more, form hypotheses, and devise experiments to test their hypotheses. The result of continuing to seek answers to unanswered questions may be an idea for a new "invention" that can solve a common problem. (Contains 7 resources and 7 online resources.)
