In order to meet the library orientation needs of these online students and provide other options for "missed" on-campus sessions, the Library Instruction Team, unfamiliar with possible software products available for this purpose, set out to develop online tutorials. In the beginning, the Team looked at several software options, Jing, SoftChalk, and Camtasia Studio, as well as researching the tutorial/orientation efforts of other libraries. Still experimenting, the Team decided to make their tutorial(s) available through Blackboard, the course management software used for WKCTC online classes. The adventure began. PowerPoint presentations were revised; scripts were written; and tutorials were recorded and posted on Blackboard.
