This value is in the form of outcomes that result in bettering the people who use libraries and the community at large. The authors feel that librarians must find creative ways to make their communities better and more prosperous. Two reports from the Urban Libraries Council and one report from ACRL echo these challenges and provide good ideas as to where librarians may start their community service efforts. Examples of community based projects from the Tulsa City County Library system are included. This paper was presented to the Oklahoma Library Association on March 30, 2011.
