- Improving Social Work Students' Information Literacy Skills: A Faculty and Librarian Collaboration Johnson, O. J. Whitfield, J. S. Grohe, B. Evidence Cooperation Information Literacy Information Skills Librarians Social Work Faculty Development Librarian Teacher Cooperation Case Studies Academic Libraries Caseworkers Outcomes of Education Graduate Students Higher Education Intervention Lifelong Learning Workshops Pretests Posttests Critical Thinking The authors present a case study examining a university library initiative intended to increase students' information literacy through effective collaboration with teaching faculty--specifically, the collaboration between an academic librarian and a social work professor. The professor participated in the information literacy initiative and subsequently implemented what was learned in a master's-level social work course. The findings suggest that information literacy initiatives are well received by faculty members and viewed as necessary resources for improving student learning outcomes. (Contains 2 tables.)
