In this article, the author describes what AR looks like in the school library and how students are affected by it. For those who do not have a leveled reading program already installed in their library, the author suggests to share their concerns about the many ways AR is used in the district and offer to develop a consistent policy. If leveled reading labels are already in place in the library, the author suggests to educate parents and get them involved. It is the mission of school librarians to serve all teachers and especially all children, and to promote a love of reading and joy in their library experiences.
