  • What Happens before the Page Is Turned? Underwood, Linda J. Renfrow, Pamela School Libraries Library Associations Planning Commissions Social Planning Conferences (Gatherings) Program Descriptions Program Design Program Implementation This article presents an inside look at concurrent session planning for the AASL 15th national conference. Planning for the AASL National Conference and Exhibition can be compared to accepting one's first school library position: Even with all the knowledge, the job is daunting. To add to the stress, most of those on the committee had never met prior to this experience, and the majority of the planning process was conducted virtually through e-mail and conference calls. If "collaboration and 21st-century learning" is the mantra of AASL, then the conference planning process is a prime example. (Contains 1 figure.)
