In some ways, it is like starting a whole new job. Sure, the staff, students, and building have remained the same, but there is a whole new person in the front office to figure out and that one person can make a huge difference in the school library program. School librarians have to assume that any new administrator will not arrive with experience or any positive experience with school libraries. Each administrator is different and has his/her preferences, ambitions, and goals. But, by keeping the lines of communication open, the school librarian can have the opportunity to really help educate administrators on the potential of the school library program.
