Strengths and weaknesses of the product are discussed as well as an early beta partner's experience. In the current atmosphere of flat or declining budgets, libraries frequently need to make decisions on which electronic resources subscriptions to maintain or discontinue. Usage statistics serve as an indicator of a resource's popularity and relevance among library patrons. EBSCO launched its Usage Consolidation product in January of 2012 to make it easier for libraries to manage and analyze their usage statistics from all types of electronic resources. Usage Consolidation is a module on the EBSCONET platform that is also where ERM Essentials (their electronic resource management system) and subscription management tools (for customers of their subscription agency division) are housed. The product uses EBSCO's A-to-Z knowledge base to normalize title-level data from usage reports. |
