In light of the special attention to basic writing development in community college curricula, this article provides an overview of basic writing pedagogy. It discusses the overall college-level writing and research processes, the academic developmental stages of community college students, and the library's role in basic writing development. It concludes with a postulation of basic writing pedagogy within our practice.
