- The Visual Aspects of Outreach and Marketing to Art + Design Students Carter, Sarah Library Services Marketing Outreach Programs Art Education Academic Libraries Undergraduate Students Visual Aids Feedback (Response) At the Verman Kimbrough Memorial Library at Ringling College of Art + Design, librarians are constantly striving to communicate the library's role as the center of research on campus as well as ensuring they are staying current with users' needs. While the visual components of library marketing and outreach used at the institution are paramount for a library serving undergraduate art and design students, they can also be beneficial for libraries in general. Incorporating pictorial methods of communication into marketing and outreach strategies can yield highly productive results. Art and design colleges are especially equipped with the resources and talent to create visually interesting and professionally produced marketing materials. Librarians outside of these communities of creativity may find that they must look to diverse sources for inspiration and expertise. However, the projects within this article do not require specialized software or design skills. Librarians who can make small investments in equipment and supplies, along with the time and mental energy to interface with users, can move closer to understanding users' needs and how best to communicate with them about the library's abilities to fulfill these needs.
