  • Comparing Linear Relationships between E-Book Usage and University Student and Faculty Populations: The Differences between E-Reference and E-Monograph Collections Lamothe, Alain R. Faculty Library Services Reference Materials Comparative Analysis Books Electronic Publishing Higher Education Foreign Countries Correlation Undergraduate Students Enrollment Graduate Students This paper reports the results from a quantitative study examining the strength of linear relationships between Laurentian University students and faculty members and the J. N. Desmarais Library's reference and monograph e-book collections. The number of full-text items accessed, searches performed, and undergraduate, graduate, and faculty population sizes were tracked and compared over a 10-year period from 2002 to 2011. Both electronic reference and monograph collections demonstrated very different relationship strengths between themselves and their users. Although all academic sectors exhibited strong linear relationships with the library's e-reference collection, when e-monographs were examined, only doctoral students demonstrated a strong relationship.
